Fence Services for Chicago Homes and Businesses

Chain link is our featured option, with commercial fencing, repairs, vinyl, wood, aluminum, privacy fencing, gates, and security solutions organized around how the property needs to work.

Featured service

Start with chain link when visibility and practical containment matter.

Galvanized and black-coated chain link can serve backyards, pets, side passages, multi-unit properties, commercial yards, and controlled access points. The page below covers the other materials and services; our dedicated chain link guide goes deeper on wire, framework, gates, cost factors, repairs, privacy, and Chicago permits.

Commercial fencing

Perimeter and access choices built around operations.

A business fence has to coexist with deliveries, parking, service circulation, equipment, customers, staff, and emergency access. We begin by identifying what needs protection or separation and how the gate will be used—not by assuming the tallest fence is automatically the best fence.

  • Property and service-yard perimeters
  • Equipment, storage, and utility enclosures
  • Parking and loading-area boundaries
  • Walk, drive, double-swing, and sliding gates
  • Visibility, screening, and code-sensitive security needs

Chicago zoning can prescribe the type of screening used in certain parking and vehicular-use conditions. The address and site use should be reviewed before choosing chain link, wood, masonry, or ornamental metal.

Fence repair

Fix the failure without ignoring the reason it happened.

A leaning section may point to a failed post or footing. A dragging gate may be a hinge problem, a post problem, or a grade problem. A loose chain link panel can result from impact, tension loss, damaged fittings, or movement elsewhere in the line.

We separate the visible symptom from the likely cause so you can compare a targeted repair with partial or full replacement. When the surrounding system is still sound, a focused repair can be the sensible choice. When failures are widespread, repeated patches may not be the best use of the budget.

Residential fence materials

Privacy, appearance, and upkeep change the right answer.

A material comparison is most useful when it connects to the property and the owner’s priorities.

02 / Vinyl

Vinyl fencing

Vinyl is commonly chosen for a clean, consistent appearance and low routine finish maintenance. Solid-panel styles provide privacy, while picket and semi-private profiles offer more openness.

Panel width, gate framing, wind exposure, grade changes, and the transition around buildings or garages deserve careful planning. “Low maintenance” does not mean “no care”; panels and hardware still need cleaning and periodic inspection.

03 / Wood

Wood & privacy fencing

Wood creates a warm, solid boundary and can adapt to traditional Chicago homes, rear yards, side passages, and custom height changes. Board orientation, cap and trim, spacing, posts, and gate construction shape both appearance and performance.

Expect ongoing care. Moisture, sun, ground contact, and winter weather affect boards and finish over time. The estimate conversation should include the material and construction—not simply “a wood fence.”

04 / Aluminum

Aluminum fencing

Aluminum provides an open, ornamental look for front yards, gardens, walkways, and boundaries where visibility is preferred. It can complement brick, landscaping, and traditional architecture without the visual weight of a solid fence.

It is not a privacy solution. Picket spacing, rail arrangement, grade changes, gate needs, and any pool-related requirements should be reviewed for the specific use.

Privacy fencing

Decide how much screening the property actually needs.

Full privacy can make sense around a rear yard, patio, or close neighbor-facing line. Partial privacy may be enough around a pet area, side yard, or commercial service zone. Solid wood and vinyl, semi-private panels, and chain link with slats create different levels of screening, airflow, wind load, maintenance, and cost.

On a compact lot, taller solid panels can change light and the sense of space. Near an alley or corner, sightlines may be important. We help organize those tradeoffs before a material is selected.

Gates & access

A beautiful fence with the wrong gate is still the wrong fence.

Gate planning starts with what passes through the opening and how often. People, pets, strollers, garbage bins, lawn equipment, cars, trucks, and deliveries have different clearance and hardware needs.

Walk

Single gates

Compact access with deliberate hinge direction, latch position, and usable clear width.

Drive

Double gates

Wider access where two swinging leaves have safe clearance and suitable grade.

Slide

Sliding gates

An option for limited swing space when the site provides adequate side run and support.

Security fencing

Security is a system of visibility, delay, access, and site control.

Fence height is only one part of security. Mesh opening, wire and framework, clear zones, gate hardware, lighting, camera sightlines, and how staff use the property all contribute to the result. Some sites need visibility through the fence; others need code-compliant screening.

Barbed wire, razor wire, and other security toppings are tightly regulated in Chicago and are not suitable for casual specification. Any topping or high-security feature requires address-specific code review and an appropriate commercial use.
